About Me

Leaving it all to follow a call

Alexzander is from Wabash, Indiana and is a member of the Church of Christ Treaty (https://www.cctreaty.org/).  When Alexzander heard of EnterMission, he was six months into a lease on his first apartment, was working full time, and with only a couple of months before EnterMission's launch date, it would seem to be that everything was stacked against him.  Truth be told, Alexzander was getting by in life but was facing challenges from all sides.  Some students who apply have a large, supportive family network and lots of connections in order to raise support while others are not blessed in this way.  When Alexzander applied and we interviewed him, our conclusions were the same as his two references from his home church: EnterMission is an opportunity that Alexzander really needs.  While it would take huge moves on his part to find someone to take over his lease, resign from his job and relocate to Knoxville the biggest challenge would be raising the financial support for these steps of faith when his social network is small.  Our response to his concerns were that God would take care of this and honor his steps of faith and to trust the process.

We are thankful to all of Alex's friends, his church family and others who are stepping up with their prayer and financial support to make his mission's journey possible.  â€‹

Under the Bridge is a ministry whose mission is to serve the homeless people through providing clothes, food and drink, and other services such as bike repair, dental, and medical.  We work with this ministry every Wednesday evening.

Something  I noticed with Under the Bridge ministry is that people there have stories, and a good portion of them want to share their stories.  They want people to see them and to be seen by others.

Stories are how we connect.  When you hear the stories of the people around you, then you can become more deeply connected with them.  I feel honored to have the opportunity to hear their stories.  I’m grateful that I was able to pray for the people who shared their stories right with them in their mess.

I would encourage you to seek someone out and to hear their story and pray with them.  Even when it’s a mess, being there matters.
